Extremely high quality die cutting in the fine cardboard packaging sector
Innovative water jet cutting technology

Karl Linhardt Stanzformen GmbH is meeting its customers needs with maximum productivity through the use of a large-size water jet cutting machine. The company is expanding its expertise, accumulated over 80 years, with the introduction of water jet cutting technology.

Linhardt’s first-ever production of milled steel counterplates in the industry was a pioneering step for the widespread introduction and application of this advantageous grooving technique.
The company’s motto “Ahead through innovation” stands for the systematic development of technical solutions to serve the customer.
Complex assignments call for readiness to innovate and require access to advanced, highly perfected technology. State-of-the-art production facilities, including laser and water jet cutting technology, are the basis for extremely high quality dies in the fine cardboard packaging application area.

A wide range of different materials
The introduction of water jet cutting at Linhardt allows high precision machining of a wide range of different materials.
The technology is used both for in-house requirements as well as for service offerings for companies across a broad spectrum of industries, including machine construction and instrument making, the glass industry, the automotive, electrical and construction industries, medical technology, interior finishing, the packaging and paper industry, aerospace and shipbuilding.
Water jet cutting is especially suitable for materials that only allow restricted processing with conventional methods. Such materials include metals, stainless steel, (armored) glass, stone (granite, marble), plastics (CFRP, GFRP), thermoplastics and thermosets, rigid and flexible foams, insulating materials, wood, rubber and hard fabrics with a material thickness of up to 100 mm and a maximum format of 2000 x 3000 mm.

Advantages compared with the laser process
Water jet cutting is an innovative segment of production measurement technology in the die making sector, and offers a large number of advantages compared with the laser cutting technique. Water jet cutting is a cold cutting method, with no thermal effect, which guarantees extremely accurate machining. The cold cutting process ensures high cutting accuracy without deformation of materials in the cutting zone and with no modification of materials due to heat and no microstructural changes to the material.

This economical and material-saving production method is both flexible and environmentally friendly.
Thanks to maximum utilization of material (minimum cutting widths, very small distances between parts) and the avoidance of tool costs it also enables individual parts and small batch sizes to be processed. Extremely fine contours and minimum web widths are thus possible.

Glasbord die
®
The use of dies and counterplates in modern automatic die cutting machines makes great demands on the tools used, both technically and economically.
In response to these challenges Linhardt developed a new product, the Glasbord
® die.

Advantages:
- Extremely high dimensional accuracy
-
High dimensional stability even under the influence of temperature and humidity variations
-
Easier handling compared with conventional dies because of its significantly lower weight
-
Multiple blade changing capability
